So, is cat hair on food a ‘condiment,’ a ‘spice,’ or a ‘food group’?
I’m watching the Westminster dog show and one of the announcers said that dog and cat hair is a condiment in their house.
A few years ago a friend gave me a platter that says “Everything tastes better with cat hair on it,” so that indicates spice
Based on the wad I pulled out of my oatmeal this morning, I’m hoping food group.
Garnish…it has been so long since I was that posh, I didn’t even think abut it.

Pet hair and in our home, feathers, have so many uses it’s difficult to categorize. It’s a fashion accessory. All well dressed owners are wearing it this season. It’s household decor, side bonus of a protective coating on carpets, furniture & bedding. It can act as “art in motion”, open the curtains to let in the sun and thousands of hairs drift slowly down, imitating a gentle snowfall.
Pet hair in another form acts as the best alarm clock. Nothing wakes a person quite like stepping in a cold hairball. This experience also inspires verbal creativity. Note the string of foul language that ensues.
My vote is for food group. Fiber. We all need more fiber in our diet.
On a more serious note. I don’t enjoy finding pet hair in my food, but it has to be less disgusting than some items found in fast food. Think the ecoli scare a few years ago.
