What are the pros and cons of updating to Tiger OSX Snow Leopard OSX?

I have a black macbook 2007. my processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.16 GHz and I recently upgraded from 1 gb ram 667 to 4 667 gb ram. I wish all the software capabilities of the snow leopard, as some programs such as utorrent and shadow display are not compatible with Tiger, I just heard that the snow leopard was significantly slower, is this true?
