When used properly Sun Self Tanning Lotion is safe for skin unlike Sun’s dangerous rays. Most sunless tanning products do not damage the skin nor cause any long-term health problems. The color change lasts for about a week after the initial application. Although Sun Self Tanning Lotions, like the gels and sprays that contain the active ingredient DHA, are considered reliable, the market is flush with other types of products too. The main among them are tanning accelerators which are lotions containing the amino acid tyrosine. Manufacturers of tanning accelerators claim tyrosine stimulates melanin formation that further accelerates the tanning process. But, presently there is no data to substantiate this claim. Another product popular with tanners is bronzers. These powders and moisturizers create a bronze tanned look.
