Persian rugs are world famous for their handmade carpets that have the distinctive look and make. People prize the for the tedious work that has gone in making these beautiful carpets with equally intricate designs that are not found in other carpets.

Persian rugs command high value in the market for their craftsmanship and are many times costlier than other carpets like oriental carpets or Tibetan. Taking care of these carpets might be similar to other carpets, but you need to understand the basic requirements when washing or cleaning these professionally.

When looking for Persian rug cleaning, look for companies that have experience in Persian rug cleaning as experience might make a difference. Since many of these carpets are kept as showcase rather than used as a general carpet, maintenance could be a little different than other conventional floor carpets.  Except for some big sized Persian carpets, the smaller ones can be relatively easy to wash and clean.

If you want to do Persian rug cleaning yourself, there is no problem. There are numerous rules regarding cleaning the stain or the liquid out from the carpet. Don’t wait till the last guests have gone to remove the mark or the physical and liquid residue, as sooner the job is done, the better.

Always use a white paper towel or a white towel as using colored ones might pass on the color to the carpet. If you have a spoon it is always good to scoop out the liquid or solid from the carpet. Never use a knife or any other cutlery as this might cut the knots in the carpet, further damaging your carpet.

Cleaning rugs professionally might be the most natural option for many, and if it requires special cleaning and washing because of the different make of the carpet, it is better to give it to a specialist.
