How can I get from Long Island, NY to the Catskills using public transport?

I am going to be in Long Island and I need a way to get to the Catskills area, more specifically Loch Sheldrake, using public transport. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Short Line used to run buses that way. Don’t know if they still do.
