Ideas on how to convert a basement into a small place for children?

I was thinking about creating different spaces for them. A dining kitchen, living room, office, and possibly a sleeping area. I was thinking of dividing the "rooms" with king size sheets, hung in an orderly manner. Our basement is not finished or anything (plaster / paint, etc), but is in good shape for a little fun with him. I do not know if I paint or put something on the floor (except carpet tacks … not) And the ideas, thoughts, suggestions? There has to be perfect …. my babies are happy have a place to play. Budget is small ~ Creativity knows no bounds. THANKS!

An old desk or table for a craft area. Then hanging baskets and a host of old shoes to put on craft materials, glues, paints, brushes, crayons, markers, scissors, glitter, stickers, etc Cabinet old file painted a funky color to celebrate materails as paper and finishing projects. You can also hang a clothes line so that the clip of paint to dry and to display finished artwork! Maybe in one area, they can put a lot of thick blankets and pillows on the ground floor of a cozy platform / bed for a nap on. Not sure how old your children are or if they are male / female, but could be an area with books and puzzles, to believe other things and dressing area with "accessories" (Umbrella, age, high heels, old Halloween wigs, feather boa, handbags) … I loved playing "kitchen" when I was little. If you have a toy kitchen then when the food runs out, keep the boxes / bottles or containers to play "kitchen" with. Any old plastic dishes not to use more … or if they have a kitchen, two chairs and a table will not work! A large box or a set of shelves can hold the "food." Many mirrors because I doubt that the basement has lots of windows … That children create art and frame in an old frame and decorate with! You can even create them and hang your work on the wall too!
