and nature only produces crude facsimiles of this removed perfection, then did he also believe that there are perfect ideals of imperfect geometric shapes? I mean, imagine you draw square but you are poor artist so the lines dont even join up: So is there a perfect version of your retarded square outside the material also? please explain?.. This is actually a problem with Plato’s theory. It seems to only apply to certain, specific things. For example, is there a form of mud or water? Those things are constantly altering their location, size, space, etc.

However, your retarded square fails to capture the perfect square, as do all imperfect squares insofar as we intend to draw/create a square. There aren’t perfections of imperfections, if that’s what you’re asking, as this is a contradiction. You kind of flesh out the problem a bit, but Plato’s theory isn’t really threatened by your specific example.

As for how it applies to literature, look up what Plato had to say about Art. He has some harsh things to say. In short, Art is an imperfect replica of the imperfection that aims to partake in the form. So, a painting of a tree is of less metaphysical status than an actual tree, and a tree of less status than the perfect tree.
