Fuji FinePix j20 zoom error — HELP!?
My Fuji Finepix j20 says zoom error on the screen and I’ve been trying to fix it by pressing the lens lightly (it was all the way out), turning it on and off (for a while it refused to turn off, then it refused to turn on). The first light on the back is blinking red.
I’ve only had it for less than 3 months, and I’ve taken around 300-375 pictures with it, but none recently. I dropped it once, but it was a very short, light fall on a fluffy, shag carpet.
any suggests on how to fix it? My dad refused to by a warranty. My parents don’t know it’s broken. I’d like to fix it without them finding it out (I was the last to use it, so they’ll blame it on me.) So anything I can do without taking it to be repaired? or buying anything?

by the way, I got the zoom back in eventually (by turning it on and off) but the lense isn’t closed and it’s focus is all weird on the screen.
In case you can’t tell, I know nothing about cameras… so simple language would be nice 
Katie, if it makes you feel any better I’m 45 and I dropped mine in soft sand on the beach and this happened! They aren’t very durable cameras, sadly. I’m a mom. If you can’t fix you can show your parents this so they don’t think you’re an irresponsible teen 
The only thing that has worked is to gently grab the lens, pull it out as far as it will go until fully extended. While keeping it extended turn the lens to the right until you hear a click. Once you hear the click, release the lens and turn the power button on and then back off again. This should take care of the problem. It hard to do, but keep trying! It sounds like an awful thing to do but I decided that if it was already broken it was worth a try and it worked!
A word of warning. ALWAYS make sure your fingers do not touch the front of the lens when you power on the camera. Even the slightest bit of obstruction seems to make the problem reoccur. Another note. I had tried this several times until I finally heard the click, so please don’t give up on it, just keep trying. This will work and it will save you a lot of time and money having it fixed.
Sadly, every time I forget and use the zoom function this happens again. It’s getting harder to fix every time. A word of advice is not to use the zoom anymore. so this doesn’t happen to you again.
