I have a toy poodle that has an irritated anus. Help!?

I learned long ago from a vet how to excise anal glands t and so when he starts scooting I know it is time to put the rubber glove on. He’s started scooting again but this time the anal glands are fine. Fact is his anus is swollen and irritated and my guess is that that is why he is dragging his hind end across our 200 year old Persian rug. His hinnie needs to be cleaned and medicated. But medicated with what??? Prep H? Tripple antibiotic ointment? Vasilene? Whaat??? Dogs ain’t humans and human meds can be harmful to pets. So, I don’t need your guesses, but if you have experience in dealing with this I’d love to hear from you. Thanks, “Freddie the Finger”

i would get the dog into the vet. right away. how can you treat something if you don’t know what is wrong. the poor dog must be very uncomfortable.
