Fashion for 2011 doesn’t have to be just about your clothes – why not give your home a fashionable makeover that doesn’t cost the earth. Here are some tips on how to use amazing fabrics, accessories and wall stickers to transform your home into a fashion lover’s dream without the designer price tag.

First of all sort out the color palette. This year it is all about bold and bright block colors and big prints and most importantly they need to be clashing! Try red, pink and orange with a splash of bright blue. Some fuchsia silk curtains would look amazing. Then add some orange and turquoise cushions. Update some of your furniture by re-painting it bright red and add blue or green details such as handles on drawers or cupboards. Finish the room off with some gorgeous wall stickers to introduce a print. Floral are literally huge this season. Little ditsy prints are for wimps. Go for large oriental blooms or beautiful vintage buds, make sure they are bold and bright, and don’t be afraid to mix and match. You could choose some Asian inspired spring branches and team them with dandelions or poppies for an up to the minute look.

Another hot trend this year is for metallic colors. Teaming gold, silver and copper with black, white and dark wood tones is a very sophisticated high end style. Their are some fantastic lampshades that are black on the outside but metallic copper on the inside. Curtains with metallic stripes look really beautiful or for a really shimmers effect of for string curtain panels in silver. There are some gorgeous metallic wall stickers. To continue a disco feel why not go for a wall sticker of a beaded curtain in an error effect finish?

Finally don’t forget the 1970s look…think back. For this you can’t go wrong with a gorgeous white shag pile rug. Leather, suede, animal fur, velvet or corduroy cushion covers and bean bags were all the rage. If you don’t want to re-decorate then use psychedelic wall stickers instead of wallpaper. Browns, oranges and creams are perfect tones for this era.
